I lived in New York for about two years, and return regularly. I now live in London but am constantly asked by friends and friends of friends for suggestions of places to visit in New York, so I thought I may as well start a blog.
I have explored a lot of New York, and know it better than many people who have lived there for years, but I really only felt at home in certain neighbourhoods – broadly Brooklyn and below 14th Street in Manhattan, so that’s mostly what you’ll find here.
Before you decide whether you want to go any further, you should know a little more about your travel companion:
- I’m not scared of the weather and would rather get wet than carry an umbrella
- I usually order the scariest thing on the menu
- In the right company I’ll happily stay out until 4am on a school night
- I’d rather see a movies on my own than spend an evening with boring company
- I travel light
- I’ll try anything once
- If everyone else is doing something, I’ve probably already done it or don’t want to
- I like vintage clothes and reclaimed furniture – labels mean nothing to me
- I’d rather be defined by my experiences than by my possessions
- I like to catch the support act and have stumbled on some great bands that way
If you think we might get along, then welcome. I’d love to know what you think.
I love it…keep it up.
