About Me

15 12 2007

I lived in New York for about two years, and return regularly. I now live in London but am constantly asked by friends and friends of friends for suggestions of places to visit in New York, so I thought I may as well start a blog.

I have explored a lot of New York, and know it better than many people who have lived there for years, but I really only felt at home in certain neighbourhoods – broadly Brooklyn and below 14th Street in Manahattan, so that’s mostly what you’ll find here.

Before you decide whether you want to go any further, you should know a little more about your travel companion:

  • I’m not scared of the weather and would rather get wet than carry an umbrella
  • I usually order the scariest thing on the menu
  • In the right company I’ll happily stay out until 4am on a school night
  • I’d rather see a movies on my own than spend an evening with boring company
  • I would rather walk than take the subway, rather take the subway than take a cab
  • I travel light and can’t stand making decisions by committee
  • I’ll try anything once
  • If everyone else is doing something, I’ve probably already done it or wouldn’t dream of it
  • Designer labels mean nothing to me , but I do like vintage clothes and reclaimed furniture.
  • I’d rather collect experiences than possessions
  • I like to catch the support act and have stumbled on some great bands that way

If you think we might get along, then welcome. I’d love to know what you think.
